Liturgical Feast Of Our Patron, Saint Peter.
22nd February 2004

For another year, the Universal Roman Catholic Church celebrated the Feast of Saint Peter Chair, thus commemorating the event when Jesus Christ promised Saint Peter to be the First Pope of the Roman Catholic Church.

As Our Patron Saint, the 22nd of February, is something more than an ordinary Feast for us Birzebbugjani, as we consider ourselves as the proud sons and daughters of Saint Peter. So, the day begun by the Executive Committee, and all members of the Societies’ Sub-Commitees placed a flower-bouquet, in front of the Devotional and Artistic Statue of Our Patron Saint placed in the middle of the Church. Afterwards, we participated in the Mass.

In the evening, the traditional concert was organized in our Band-Club premises, in the perfect renovated Hall. It was oragnised by the Band Sub-Committee formed by Mario Dalli, Christopher Bonnici, and Keith Zammit, under the unique direction of Mro. Vincent Bonnici aided by the Assistant Director Mro. Saviour Fenech. In this concert, participated all our Musicians and some of our trainee who faced the public as a soloist for the first time in their lives. From this web side, we would like to encourage them to continue in this right track, in order to form part of our Band in the near future. Than, our Local Bandsman participated in Duetts and two choirs. The first choir was composed from woodwinds, and the second was formed of Brass- Instruments. These choirs interpretated some different Musical Pieces. At last, the whole band performed the Sinfonia Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and the Concert concluded by the Immortal Saint Peter’s Hymn, Lyrics by Fr. Francis Camilleri and Music composed by Mro. Carmelo Pace. It was a great evening to commemorate such a special day for our society and for our village. Hope that we will have such type of meetings in the near future. By these events, our society confirms its love for Saint Peter, the Patron Saint of Birzebbuga, and never betrayed Patron of his Society.
